Die Sammlung umfasst vor allem Ausgrabungsobjekte die seit 1884 aus
68 Grabungen zusammengetragen wurden, sowie Stücke von den Ausgrabungen
John Garstangs in Abydos und Meroe. Es gibt etwa 1500 Textilproben aus
unterschiedlichen Zeiten von prädynastisch bis koptisch, darunter
300 Textilien aus Karanis, einige davon komplette Kleidungsstücke.

nach ihrer Kapitulation 1801 in Alexandria abgenommen. Unter den vielen
berühmten Stücken ist auch der Stein von Rosette. Neuerwerbungen
